Shots of you looking into the camera create trust by inviting the viewer to make eye contact, so it is important to have at least one of these images on your website and social media. Candid shots on the other hand, showing you with your products or simply in your day-to-day work flow, make great regular content for your social media because your viewers can relate to them and are intrigued to see more.

Firstly you should know what feelings you want to provoke with your personal brand and content photographs.
Do you want them to be light and airy, warm and inviting, dark and moody, colourful and playful? Your personal brand photographer needs to know what mood you want to achieve. A good exercise is to write down 10 adjectives that reflect your brand personality.

Looking away, actually laughing out loud and doing little movements can be all great candid shots. But do everything you do with a bit more energy than you normally would. Smile bigger, walk with more sway, stand taller, and laugh harder. Don’t be afraid to play around and experiment.
Tip: Practice at home to throw back your head and laugh at nothing in particular. It will feel awkward at first but it will make you more confident to try it out on the shoot day. I promise you it will make a great shot and will help you to connect with your clients on a personal level.

Change up your pose just slightly every time you hear the camera. Move the hand a little bit more up, brush your hair out of your face, look to the side, change your hands again, lean a bit forward… your personal brand photographer will tell you when to hold a pose. See yourself as a Model and not the subject. Again, relax and have fun.

Walking shots are great candid images as they add movement to your shots. If your planning to wear a dress or skirt play with it with your hands while you walk. Don’t like wearing dresses? You might wear a light scarf or a necklace. Making use of your accessories can give your hands something to do and adds some vitality to the shot.
Personal brand shoots are actually really fun. It might take a little time to get into it but I promise you will. As I said above just experiment, try out poses and don’t be afraid to laugh out loud. Remember it is your time and your photographer actually wants the best for you so have fun and try out my tips above.

“I loved my shoot with Nadja. I felt completely at ease in her presence, which is a rare thing for me, as I don’t consider myself to be very photogenic. Nadja Is very approachable and works with you to make sure you have the best experience before, during and after the shoot. Apart from the excellent service she provided, I absolutely love the way my photographs came out. I highly recommend booking Nadja for your shoot.” Gia Lili – Love Coach
