You might get nervous just thinking about stepping in front of the camera and having to pose. I know the word posing sounds already awkward but to be honest even the most natural and genuine laughing shots need some guidance from the photographer. Setting the client in good natural light and a flattering pose is a vital part of a personal brand photo shoot. Here are some tips and posing ideas for your personal brand shoot.
For all of the following examples below always remember:
- Sit and stand up straight, it automatically gives you an instant lift and a confident posture.
- Instead of having your feet next to each other, position one in front of the other which again will give your legs a bit more length.
- A great tip is to tilt your hips away from the camera and instead bring your upper body and face a bit closer to the camera. This helps to slim your waistline and brings the center of attention to your face.
- We feel the most awkward when our hands have nothing to do. Use your props, hold a book, pen or use your pockets if you’re lucky to have any. If you don’t you can hold with one hand the tip of of the thumb of your other hand.
- And one very important tip when you are worried about a double chin; move your shoulders back and your chin forward. This little movement gives you more space between neck and chin.
Pose #1 – At Work
Pose #2 – Get Moving
Pose #3 – Close Up
Pose #4 – The Headshot/ Portrait
Pose #5 – Lifestyle
I had two of my own personal brand shoots done now and I can assure you, you get a great variety of brand images by changing up your poses just slightly, move your hand a little bit, brush the hair out of your face, change your facial expressions, look around. Just move a little bit after you hear the shutter speed, make use of your props and experiment. I promise you it will be so much fun!
